About Us
Stone’s The Monumental Masons was founded back in 1876, on the same site which we now occupy in Weymouth, by Samuel G. Stone. The business continued as a traditional family run firm and the father, grandfather and great grandfather of the current proprietor, David Hounsell, were all stonemasons in Weymouth.

These two photographs show that little has changed during this time and the high standards of craftsmanship and service are maintained to this day. These premises are the site of our workshops, and visitors are welcome to come into the office and discuss their requirements. We have a range of memorials on display. Every memorial we produce, whether large or small, receives the same care and attention, as we are proud to be entrusted by our customers with the task of making a lasting commemoration to their loved ones.
The firm expanded into Somerset in the 1970s and we also have a thriving branch in Martock. We cover an area comprising Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
In Martock we have an extensive showroom with disabled access and parking directly outside our premises. There are 30 memorials of differing designs and materials on permanent display and many others in our colour brochures.
